ARTIST STATEMENT:
“If it had not been the Lord”
Of late, I have been intrigued by the tradition of quilt as memorial
Fabric and scraps raised up as record-keepers
During the long night
My bosom circle held me close
Saying I had every right to be bitter and angry
And I was
But when I remembered the works of the Lord
There I found
Abased and abound, I can do all things
And Christ was the centerpiece
12 months of never lacking
Pressed, but not crushed
Pressed into this tapestry of velveteen
12 patchworks made from bits ’n’ pieces
12 stones recounting God’s faithfulness
